Job Description

Summary:
The primary function of the Manager – Regional Sales, is to lead and take responsibility for the processes, people, and results associated with the Sierra Meat & Seafood regional customer sales efforts. As a visible leader, and subject matter expert, the incumbent will demonstrate leadership in all areas of regional sales activities including but not limited to; Sales processes, product knowledge, product offerings, promotional activities, ERP Sales functions, and learning & development. This leadership role is very “hands-on” with a strong focus on customer and sales associate engagement, and strategic sales growth initiatives, as well as a consistent and meaningful oversight of sales reporting activities including weekly action plans for driving results.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Lead bi-weekly territory review calls with regional sales staff focused on successes, opportunities, and action plans.
  • Schedule and lead quarterly regional sales team member reviews
  • Lead recruiting efforts (with other Sr leaders) for regional sales positions
  • Lead training/onboarding of new regional sales team members 
  • Developing relationships with key regional clients on an ongoing basis including quarterly visits with all “A” customers
  • Lead cross-functional communication with (including but not limited to) procurement, production, shipping & receiving, and Finance, to ensure customer satisfaction problems are addressed and all customer needs are met
  • Co-Lead lunch and learn sessions with Merch team and other department leaders. Work collaboratively with colleagues to create and publish lunch and learn sessions
  • Attend customer and trade organization events including but not limited to; CAB gatherings, new customer openings, trade shows, supplier tours, and Company sponsored events
  • Review key sales KPI data timely and assist sales associates with action plans to correct course on poor performing customers. This includes territory, customer, segment, and product, comparative sales reports
  • Maintain regional sales pipeline including status updates on existing, and addition of new prospective clients
  • Join sales associates on regularly scheduled “ride-withs” as well as pinpoint, focused customer visits as needed
  • Represent regional sales team engaging with suppliers, brokers, and other company partners and add input to strategic decision making regarding adding/discontinuing products
  • Represent regional sales team in weekly leadership meetings as well as other leadership functions
  • Lead preparation of annual regional sales budgets and quarterly forecasts. Add weekly input to company “flash” report
  • Lead preparation and delivery of Performance improvement plans as needed in partnership with Sr. leadership and HR team
  • Lead “regional sales” portion of weekly sales call and contribute to other inputs (merchandising, etc.)

Food & Physical Safety
  • Perform duties to SQF (Safe Quality Food) level 2 standards and requirements.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), policies and procedures.
  • Understand and complete your responsibilities under Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the position and/or task.
  • Investigate any accidents, incidents, near misses immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work within established safe work practices, policies, and procedures.

This job operated in an office, warehouse, and production environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as oversight of all production room equipment. Education, Training and Skills Required:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelor’s degree or Culinary Schooling preferred
  • 5+ years of experience within protein (beef, chicken, pork and specialty meats) sales
  • 5+ years of experience leading and supervising a sales team
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential.
  • Intermediate computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite
  • "Low ego" personality; highly developed teamwork and partnership skills; able to develop successful relationships with varying personalities and functions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Attracted to, and able to manage, a high volume of work and continuous flow of new challenges/ changes.
